After a delay of two years, due to the numerous Covid restrictions, this year’s L41C Spring Golf Competition was held on Monday 26th & Tuesday 27th April.
Ten L41C members, plus four carefully selected Club friends made their way to the Welcome Hotel & Golf Club in Stratford-upon-Avon. With the advancing age of attendees, the fellowship was at the fore and competitiveness at the rear! The Club Trophies were won by:
Day 1 – Matt Booth Tankard – Mick Lavenstein – 29 Stableford Points
Day 2 – Ray Turner Memorial Trophy – Mick Lavenstein – 32 Stableford Points
Fab 5 Trophy – adopted from Sutton Coldfield 41 Club – Mike Atkinson
The future of the Trophies was discussed. The April Showers Event, run for many years by members of L41C, has recently been closed, having raised wonderful funds for St. Giles Hospice. This was driven by the ever reducing number of members, which makes organisation of these competitions more and more challenging. That said, the Spring Golf fellowship will continue and the nature of the event will be changed to a more social meeting.
