At last we can start planning to meet again. Provided the Government road map stays in place we can meet again, in person, in May. Prior to that we have a few more Zooms planned as follows.
March 31 – regular Club Zoom – no quiz this time!
April 14 – Council Meeting on Zoom
April 28 – AGM – the last Club meeting on Zoom
I am trying to organise a working part to tidy up the 41 Club garden at the National Arboretum. This is not as easy as it sounds as they require us to have Liability Insurance in place and evidence of our ability to spray a little Patio Magic on the moss! I am talking to the National President, Peter Good, whose business is landscape gardening and can work at the Arboretum. I am trying to arrange for us to work with him, but in April numbers would be limited to 6. We may need to have several working parties.
May 26 – First people meeting of the year! A lunchtime meeting in the garden of The Colville Arms in Lullington. The landlord, Neil, is opening the garden just for us and the numbers will need to be limited to 30. There will be no food supplied so please bring a sandwich. Neil will get whatever you want to drink and all payments will be contactless.
To ensure that we don’t exceed the number limit of 30, nearer the date, I will be asking you to book in or apologise. It will be first come first served!
June 23 – another outside meeting at The Colville Arms in Lullington. In the hope that more of us will be permitted to meet, this will be a joint meeting with Tangent and Fish and Chips will be provided – for those who want it. I will be asking for numbers nearer the date.
After that I am hoping that we will be able to resume our normal inside meetings. That is still uncertain – the Government is waiting to see how things work out. Also we need to talk to WHGC and see what they can offer us in their shiny new Club House. Golf clubs are closed until the end of this month so we can’t contact them at the moment.
So – some light at the end of the tunnel and we will be meeting soon in Lullington. Let’s hope for a nice afternoon.
I am sending this to you all, as well as putting it on the Website to keep you all as informed as possible. About half the Club joins the regular Zooms – why don’t the rest of you join us. It’s quite fun and there are only 2 to go!
Best wishes to you all and stay safe.
