Gentlemen, let me first say that I am honoured to have accepted the offer from our esteemed Chairman Dimeloe to serve this term as your club President. Following in the footsteps of our illustrious past president Hartley, I dare say that
I will do my best to meet and hopefully exceed your expectations. Mind you, being the first Washingtonian to serve in this capacity, let me assure each of you that I plan not to duplicate the likes of another colonial leader who happens to bear the same name as mine.
I know that each of us is anxious and hopeful that we will soon be able to meet together in person and see an end to the present dilemma we are now facing. But until that day arrives, shall we all raise our glasses and virtually exclaim with much vigour, “To Continued Friendship”.
