Sad news

We have heard via Tim Bolton about Ed Hall:

Have just heard the sad news from a neighbour that Ed, who I believe was a Past Chairman, died on 12th October. He was about 93, and he and Doreen moved from Woodfields Drive about a year ago to a retirement flat in Longbridge to be near their sons. I understand that the funeral will be in Northfield on Wednesday, 15 November, details to follow. I understand that Doreen is now back in a nursing home.
Kind Regards
Tim Bolton

Ed was Chairman of Lichfield 41 Club 1981 – 1982. As a club we offer our deep condolences to his wife and family.

Six Club Quiz Night – 3 Feb 2024 – Further Details

Update from Viv Wyss, Lichfield Ladies Tangles on the Six Club Quiz Night which is scheduled for Saturday 3rd February 2024:

As you know, we have rescheduled the six club quiz for  Saturday 3rd February .  We are pleased to say we have now finalised the arrangements, and we have modified the entry cost, to reflect feedback and our own costs.  So please see the attached flyer – I would be so grateful if you can plug this amongst your club to encourage an excellent turnout from all clubs, in the spirit of the organisation.  Please ask members to add the date to the diary!

This is our main charity event of the year – our chosen charities are Myeloma UK, which is our national president’s charity, and The Eve Project, which is our own chair’s charity for the year. We are hoping to have the national president of tangent clubs in attendance.

Entry is now £5 per person, but please book in and pay as a team.  There will be an excellent raffle, and heads and tails.  Please bring your own food or snacks, drinks,  glasses, etc, and of course, cash.  Teams should book in via myself on this email address if possible:

lichfieldtangles@gmail.com

Yours in Continued Friendship,

Viv Wyss

Please note: Payment is via bank transfer to Tangles: we don’t publish bank details on our web site for security reasons, so please ask for payment details when you book in.

Chairman’s Remarks – Sep 2023

As the evenings start to close in, and we wait with bated breath for the start of the Sunday evening elimination round of Strictly, now may be a good time to reflect on the last month or so. To help us do that, Chairman Colin “Ramblin’ Rose” John has put pen to paper, or at least forefinger to keyboard, to remind us of things past, present, and to come. Click here to read his prose.

Once you’ve done that, click here to watch Meatloaf and Karla DeVito (no relation to Danny) perform Paradise by the Dashboard Light**.

**There is no causal link between Colin’s remarks and Meatloaf. I just like Meatloaf. Interestingly, Ellen Foley, who sang on the album, declined to be on the Bat Out Of Hell tour, and Karla DeVito assumed live performance responsibilities, so the music video was created by syncing the video of DeVito’s performance to the audio of Foley’s vocals.
