I am writing to confirm the details of our next meeting on 9 September.

This will take place at:

12.30 pm in the garden of the Colville Arms, Lullington, DE12 8EG.

We have 44 booked in to attend, including our National President, Peter Good and his wife.

Fish and Chips will be served from 12.45 for those that have ordered them.  Please bring the correct money as no change will be given.  The cost is £6 each.

The intention is to have this meeting in the garden of the pub.  It is large and has sufficient seating for everyone to be comfortable and to remain socially distanced.

If it should rain the publican, Neil, has assured me that the pub can accommodate 60 and they can remain socially distanced.  I understand that not everyone will be happy to go inside so I recommend that you leave an umbrella in the car so that you can stay outside and dry if it rains.

All payments for drinks are contactless.

Whilst we live in uncertain times, President Donald has set a date for his President’s Night. We will have to wait and see what this might comprise or even if we can run the event. Further details will be made available when it is known what we can do, but in the meantime, put the date in your calendar – Wednesday 3rd March 2021

We had the first meeting of my year yesterday and I want to thank the 22 people who came to The Colvile Arms, in Lullington for lunchtime drinks.  It was a great success -the weather stayed fine – just – and we had a very pleasant socially distanced get together.

It was such a success that I would like to do it again whilst the weather allows and plan to have a similar meeting on Wednesday 9 September.

There will be 2 main differences.  Firstly I would like to extend an invitation to all wives, partners and other members of Tangent to join us.  The pub garden, of which we will have the exclusive use, is big enough to allow many more people to attend and respect strict social distancing.

Secondly you will also be able to enjoy freshly prepared fish and chips if you want to.  The Landlord has arranged for a mobile fish and chip van to come to the pub at 12.45 and prepare fish and chips for everyone who would like them for £6.00 each.  It will take them about 40 minutes to prepare fish and chips for the 50 people we expect and there are plenty of tables so that everyone will be able to sit down to eat and remain socially distanced.  They will provide wooden knives and forks but you may prefer to bring your own.

We need a reasonable turn out for this meeting to make it commercially viable for the Landlord and the fish and chip van.  No bribes this time, but I do need final numbers by Wednesday 26 August please.

All payments for drinks are contactless, but if you want the fish and chips please bring the correct cash as we want to reduce the handling of money.

If it should rain we can go into the pub.  We have exclusive use of the pub as it does not normally open at lunchtime and it can accommodate 60 people seated and socially distanced.
